These 1911s were inspired by the matching 2 Tone Black & Gold Colt Government .45 pistols used by the Terrorist, Castor Troy (Nicholas Cage) up against FBI Special Agent, Sean Archer, (John Travolta) in the 1997 action film, 'Face Off' (it’s a great retro-action film, now 28 years old, do a double feature & watch ‘Con-Air’ first for a warmup!).

This is one of the best 1911 platforms we’ve seen & we’re impressed! With excellent build quality, finish & full aluminium construction, this is very well priced for the quality you get. The US Colt Government is an iconic sidearm & combat proven in numerous armed conflicts. It was also standard issue for the US Federal Bureau of Investigation who until this time still used .38 special revolvers.

A brief overview of the famous Colt Government .45 M1911

The FBI used both the Colt 1911 & the Thompson Sub-Machine Gun once officially adopted as they share the same .45 calibre ammunition & could standardise the ammunition required for its active-duty Special Agents.

This pistol has seen active service with the US Government from 1911 (hence the model was named the 'M1911') to the mid-1980s. This is the same version used in all major conflicts including World War I, World War II, The Korean War & the Vietnam War.

During Afghanistan & Iraq conflicts the US Defense Force did selection for a long overdue replacement for the ever-reliable Colt .45 pistol fleet & the Beretta M92 was selected as the new primary sidearm. Thereby ending a long & battle seasoned sidearm.

 Whilst the Colt .45 is still a relevant pistol, with the type of Combat Operations moving to CQB from patrolling jungles in Vietnam. The 1911 round is heavy and slower than 9mm, is under capacity & outperformed compared to most other Military pistols that are 3-5 generations ahead in function, are NATO 9mmX19 calibre, with double action, better ergonomics & most importantly, greatly improved magazine capacity & a more controllable & improved firing rate.

One key priority for a new pistol was due to magazine capacity. The sidearm that was eventually selected, was the M92 Beretta which had originally been designed for the Italian Police Force. The US military named it the M9 Beretta. The Beretta holds 15+1 rounds (the +1 is taking into consideration that there is 1 x round of 9mmX19 ammo in the chamber). The Colt .45 holds just 7+1 rounds.

The adoption of 9mmx19 ammunition by paramilitary forces around the globe is because 9mmx19 rounds have less recoil, greater muzzle velocity & a quicker fire rate & better accuracy from being easier to control & 9mmX19 ammunition has significantly less recoil than a .45 round.

Golden Eagle - Gel Blaster GBB Pistol Improvement & Upgrades: 

Golden Eagle have made some great improvements in the newest December 2024 lineup of the GE 1911 Pistol Range: the improvements are:

• Addition of an inbuilt Hopup: A tightbore alloy 7.3mm inner barrel out of the box - providing increased accuracy and FPS gains from the best in class ‘Magnus’ fixed-type Hopup integrated in the muzzle end of the inner barrel 
• Upgraded magazine Gas Inlet Valve - which has solved the problem of gas bleeding while refilling the magazine via the inlet valve. This was a characteristic of GE first series Green Gas Magazines. 

With these 2 improvements, one being a major revision and the other being an Upgraded Alloy Inner Barrel with an inbuilt Hopup as standard. GE gel blaster pistols are now on par with Double Bell models. The GE pistol series is even better value than ever before. Now GE has more features compared to WETech & Armorers Works, which while being excellent pistols, do not come with a Hopup function out of the box or authentic type makers markings on the exterior.
