Everyone loves tracer gels! It looks cool & adds a great theatrical feel to gameplay, or even just for kids & adults alike having fun plinking targets in the dark. Tracer gels are great fun & they elevate the fun factor x 10 & spectators get treated to a cool light show too. Glow gels provide an amazing visual spectacle if you happen to play at night or at darkened indoor fields.

A glow magazine or 'tracer' magazine is an Automatic Electric Gel Blaster (AEG) M4 magazine. This magazine can be used anytime, with or without glow gels. Most of our team run Tracer mags for our AEG M4 Gen 8 gel blaster rifles. The UV lights are always working, but we don't always use tracer rounds. It is an additional feature if the opportunity arises to play night games.

This magazine has a strip of UV lights inside the feed tube which constantly charge the glow compound. Each time you pull the trigger; all the gels are being irradiated by the UV lights which build up the gels to their maximum glow level. It's for this reason that a tracer magazine is always our pick over a suppressor style tracer unit, because the gels in the magazine are getting far greater exposure to UV before being fired through the barrel, meaning you get the most out of the tracer effect.

This magazine is suitable with all Glow gels. We use & recommend iHobby Glow Gels with all tracer magazines & tracer units for best performance. Please note glow gels are not hard gels due to the phosphorous additive which has properties which weakens them. Just remember, their primary function is to visually indicate the trajectory of your gel balls for play in low-light conditions or in darkened Gelsoft Indoor Game Fields.

Buyers Note: Currently all glow gel brands in Australia use a similar compound & all are basically an even playing field. Out of all the glow gels we've tested, the standout were iHobby Hardened Glow Gels, because they are slightly harder & are the brightest out of all of the glow gels in our gel ammunition range, these rated the best in all gels on the market as of January 2025:

Whilst the iHobby Glow Gels are our recommendation, be mindful that they are only marginally superior results, but it's enough to be our best glow gel product. Then, the close second glow gels are the Possum Eyes glow gels which run a close second, right on the heels of iHobby glow Gels. The Possum Eyes Gels are produced by a locally based Morton Bay Business, Nek Minnit, the distributor of the Goat Balls Gel Ammunition Range.

  1. The hardest glow gel on the market (at time of testing in January 2025), only a fraction stronger than the other tested glow gels
  2. Best consistency in grow time & shape
  3. Brightest of all glow gels in our range

The hardest glow gels in the range (albeit not by much) a much more consistent gel compared to the other offerings. as accurate as premium ultra-hardened gels such as iHobby & Goat Balls Original Formula gels. & we recommend preparing a blend of gels in a ratio of 3:1.

As the glow gels are not as hard as regular gels, they aren't very effective as a game gel. As mentioned, to get the most out of your tracer magazine. For our Milsim (Military Simulation) customers, we recommend the following blend to use tracers properly, mix 75% of your favourite gels to 25% glow gels. Place the glow gels in with your regular gels & prepare them as per usual.
